Why Live in
Nashville?
Nashville has a good
economy and a comparatively low cost of living!
Low unemployment (about 3% in 1996) and good job growth
(approximately 92,000 jobs created between 1992 and 1996) contribute to
the growing economy; while having no state income tax
helps to keep the cost of living considerably lower than that of
other cities of similar size.
Nashville has
lots of Parks and Recreation!
Nashville has over 70
parks and playgrounds.
Warner Parks (which include Percy Warner
and Edwin Warner Parks), one of the countrys
largest city parks, totals over 2,600 acres. It offers
hiking and horseback riding trails, as well as nature
gazing, picnic shelters, playing fields, and a
steeplechase race course. J. Percy Priest Reservoir and
Old Hickory Lake provide hundreds of miles of shoreline
and thousands of acres of water for boating, fishing, and
canoeing. Public golf courses are scattered throughout
the Nashville area, and you can swim and play tennis free
at many Metro Parks and Recreation areas. |

Nashville has
professional sports!
If you like football, youve come to the right place! In the
spring, go to the new Bridgestone
Arena to see the Nashville Predators
claw their way through the NHL. Then, in the fall, you can cheer for the Tennessee Titans in the NFL.
With that change of the nickname, the beautiful new stadium, and perfect home
record in 1999, the Titans have developed one of the most enthusiastic
followings in the NFL. If football is not your game, how about
a cool game of hockey? The Predators 1998/1999 inaugural season at the arena was
pretty slick! We also have the Nashville Sounds for your baseball enjoyment and the Nashville Speedway for you auto racing fans! And of course, you
can cheer for Vanderbilt sports year-round.

Nashville is a
great supporter of Music and the Arts!
Of course, you know that music is a huge part of
Nashvilles history and entertainment, as many
people refer to Nashville as Music City, USA. One of its
most popular tourist attractions is Music Row on the West
End of downtown, where many of the record companies have
their offices. Some of the other music-related
attractions include the
Country Music Hall of Fame, the Ryman Auditorium (where the original Grand
Ole Opry was held), and
The Bluebird (where many up-and-coming stars get
their starts). There are also many museums and art
galleries, including the Cheekwood Museum of Art, the
Parthenon, and the Tennessee Arts
Commission Gallery. In addition, Nashvilles many
performing arts facilities host concert, theater,
ballet,
opera, and
symphony performances at
the fabulous
Schermerhorn Symphony Center. |
Nashville is Convenient!
Three major highways intersect Nashville. I-65 goes south through
Alabama and north through Louisville, Indianapolis, and on
towards Chicago; while I-40 goes west through Memphis, all the
way to California, and east to Greensboro, NC; and I-24 takes you
southeast to Chattanooga and northwest to Illinois. This makes
Nashville a great launching point for day trips. Nashville also has the convenience
of an international airport to take you where you need to go,
whether its business or pleasure.
