Rutherford County

Thirty miles southeast of Nashville, you will find Rutherford County, one of the fastest-growing areas in Tennessee. Rutherford County boasts of house prices that are consistently lower than those in Davidson and Williamson Counties. Its two school districts also add to its appeal, producing the third largest number of high school graduates in the Middle Tennessee region. Industry is also booming in Rutherford County. Smyrna is home to Nissan's automobile manufacturing facility, the largest of its kind in North America. Middle Tennessee State University is also located in Rutherford County. It is the third largest and fastest-growing university in the state.

J. Percy Priest Lake is popular among the county's residents, offering boating, fishing and water-skiing. There are also several tennis and racquet clubs for tennis players and quite a few golf courses. Lavergne and Smyrna are located in the northern part of the county and offer easy access to downtown Nashville by way of I-24. Both communities offer affordable housing and convenient access to Percy Priest Lake. Murfreesboro is the largest community and is the entertainment center of the county. Although it has had constant population growth for many years, it still offers small-town atmosphere and hospitality.
