Mort's Frequently Asked Questions (with
Answers!)
1. So Mort, do I have to be a Country Music Fan to
live in Nashville?
Not initially. You will have a ninety-day grace period to
acquire a taste for (or as we say, take a likin' to) our
home-grown music genre. Suggested sources of study:
WSIX Young Country--97.9
WSM Nashville 95--95.5
Power Country--102.9
If, after this grace period, you choose NOT to like
country music, you may be scoffed at and will be forced to
join the ever-growing group of people who have discovered
that there's more to the "Music City" than steel
guitars and two-stepping. The Nashville music scene includes
many different types of musical entertainment ranging from
Jazz to Contemporary Christian, Bluegrass to Alternative
Rock, and radio stations range from classical to classic
rock.
2. So Mort, what is the
Bat Building anyway?
Although it initially served primarily as an eye sore, the
pointy-eared building has "grown on" Nashville, as
it distinguishes the Nashville skyline from "just any
ol' city." It is actually owned by BellSouth.
3. So Mort, exactly how much of the world's supply of
oil originates in the state of Tennessee?
Although Bud Adams may point to Jed Clampitt as the
rational behind our NFL team's nickname, to our knowledge,
the Volunteer State is not a huge threat to Sadam Husein's
oil empire.
4. So Mort, will my new house in Nashville have indoor
plumbing?
Possibly, and we sometimes wear shoes and drive cars, too.
5. So Mort, doesn't Nashville have great Bar-b-que?
No, that's Memphis!
6. So Mort, where would I go to hear great Blues
music?
Memphis!
7. So Mort, will I see Elvis?
Maybe, if you go to Memphis.
