Mammoth Cave, Kentucky

About an hour and a half north on I-65, exit west at Exit 53 (Cave City). Travel west about 10 miles to Mammoth Cave National Park. Mammoth cave is appropriatly named, as it's 300 miles of known passage ways make it the longest known cave in the world.

The park offers tours ranging from the half-hour "Discovery Tour" to the six hour "Wild Cave" tour for the serious spelunker.

This is the view of the surface from the entrance to the cave neer the visitor's center. This is the starting point of the popular "Historic Tour." Plan on about two hours and dress for mid-50 degree tempreratures in the cave any time of year.

The park offers plenty for those that prefer sunshine. There are 52,000 acres with over 70 miles of hiking trails, and the locals aren't camera shy.
